W2 professorship for the field of "Labour Law, Private Law as well as Social Sustainability"

At the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, Germany's first zero-emission campus, Trier University of Applied Sciences offers around 2,300 students the opportunity for an interdisciplinary and future-oriented education. The topic of sustainability is reflected in all degree programmes. The following positions are available in the Department of Environmental Economics/Environmental Law in the subject area "Business and Environmental Law" as of the next possible date:

The tasks of the professorship include teaching and research in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in the field of "Business and Environmental Law" and in other degree programs of the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld. Furthermore, the professor will contribute to the profile of the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld in teaching and research.

Well-founded theoretical knowledge and several years of practical experience in the field of Labour Law (Individual and Collective Labour Law) as well as Private Law in general (especially Property Law) are expected. Additionally, we expect the applicant to be knowledgeable in those fields of law which deal with social sustainability of our economy and society.  Engagement in the field of further education as well as participation in the institutes of the university are required.

Applicants are also expected to conduct lectures in both English and German and thus to support the international orientation of the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and Trier University of Applied Sciences advocate an academic teaching concept in which a high level of teaching presence is expected at the university location.

In addition to the general requirements under civil service law, the minimum recruitment requirements are:

  1. a successfully completed university degree in law,
  2. pedagogical aptitude, which is usually demonstrated by experience in teaching, training or by appropriate further training in higher education didactics,
  3. special aptitude for academic work, as a rule demonstrated by a qualified doctorate,
  4. in addition, special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of relevant professional practice, of which at least three years shall have been spent outside the higher education sector.

Appointment shall be made to the civil service for life if the relevant service law requirements are met.
