Admission Requirements for Foreign Applicants

Bachelor´s and Master´s Degree Programmes

Applicants with certificates/degrees of non-German schools or universities must submit their application for review of their university entrance qualification to the service facility “uni-assist” in Berlin.  A direct application to Hochschule Trier via the online portal is not possible.

For checking your university entrance qualification, please refer to the portal of the KMK which you find here.

  • The universities are solely responsible for student counseling

Special features in the procedure for refugees

Application procedure with proof of status

Applying for study at our university can only be made through uni-assist!

Please submit a request for a free review at uni-assist.

An application to uni-assist is free of charge if a person ...

► can prove  that her/his residence status is that of  a "registered refugee"

and

► is able to submit a "certificate" from a uni-assist member university with which a uni-assist university supports a free examination at uni-assist.

You will receive this certificate after an intensive educational consultation at our student advisory office.

 

The applicationfree of charge  takes place in two steps:

1. Application for a free examination

2. Submit the application as requested by uni-assist

 

Step 1:

Please forward 

  1. the complete application for participation in the free examination to determine the HZB
  2. the copy of a document indicating your residence status in Germany.,
  3. the certificate of our university for the free determination of the HZB of registered refugees

in paper form to this address:

After uni -assist has checked the application for a free examination, you will receive an e-mail from uni-assist requesting you to apply , which will contain all the information you need for further steps.

Application procedure without proof of status

and

► has passed a TestAS test.

You can apply for the TestAS test here.

DAAD offers free participation for persons with the following residence forms:

  • Persons with BÜMA / proof of arrival (notification of asylum application before application in accordance with §63a AsylG)
  • Asylum seekers (ongoing procedure -  form of residence (Aufenthaltsgestattung) pursuant to §55 AsylVfG)
  • Tolerated (Temporary suspension of deportation - toleration according to §60a AufenthG)
  • Persons entitled to asylum according to. Art. 16a GG / GFK (residence according to § 25 Abs. 1 AufenthG)
  • Subsidiary persons qualifying for protetion acc. § 4 AsylVfG (residence according to § 25 Abs.2 S.1 / 2 AufenthG)
  • Persons with deportation protection acc. Section 60 (5) and (7) AufenthG (residence according to § 25 Abs.3 AufenthG)

Language Requirements

Degree Programmes in German Language

Proof of knowledge of the German language:

  • German Language Certificate of the Standing Conference oft he Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs oft he Länder in der Federal Republic of Germany, Level II.
  • German language proficiency examination, minimum level:  DSH 2
  • Exam: German as a foreign language for foreign appliants (TestDaF). The applicant must pass all four parts of the exam with a grad 4 TestDaF level or above. 
  • Feststellungsprüfung: Exam which testifies to a student’s knowledge and ability to take up a degree course of study at a university in the Federal Republic of Germany.
  • Das Große und das Kleine Deutsche Sprachdiplom (GDS and KDS) as well as the certificate C1 and the ZOP Certificate (Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung) oft he Goethe Institute.
  • German Language Exam Level II of the Munich Institute of Language and Interpreting (Sprachen- und Dolmetscher-Institut München).

Non-enrolled students

Persons who wish to receive further education in individual areas of knowledge can be admitted on request as non-enrolled students in the context of existing study places.
