The aim of the master’s course of studies in media computer science is the impartation of a broad ability for various occupations and jobs in media computer science.
The curriculum contains deepening application-oriented subjects, for example from the area of databases and also lectures that fit into the special (software technological) requirements of media computer science.
Modules media computer science
• Interactive media systems (incl. web programming and design)
• Elective subjects in media computer science (e.g. game design)
• 3D computer animation
• Databases and information systems (incl. multimedia databases)
• Sustainable software technology
• Specialized chapters of computer science
• Interdisciplinary project
• Machine learning
• Knowledge management
• Elective subject in language, communication and marketing
• Professional media practice (e.g. studio photography)
In the centre of the modules in the area of media communication stands the conception and production of multimedia applications, 3D applications and media based learning units. Elective subjects like e.g. real-time graphic and game design complete this course offer. The orientation of the master’s course of studies in media computer science is geared especially towards the requirements of companies in the area of multimedia production. At the same time, it opens up attractive options in many other areas of media computer science occupations.
Beyond the sheer application of multimedia systems, the course of studies conveys knowing that enables to conceptualize from a software technical point of view and to design such systems. The master students at the Environmental Campus in media computer science have an interdisciplinary area of occupation at hand, in which the students can create and realize new concepts of media conception and put them to the test.
At the same time, one does not only regard the internet as a medium for presentation of interactive data (key word “web 2.0”), but also on other levels like desktop applications, mobile phones and other mobile terminal devices.
