Exhibition until 01/07/2017: Ernst Slavik. "Sisyphos". Material pictures and graphical works
Until 1 July 2017, works of the artist Ernst Slavik are exhibited by the library of the Einvironmental Campus Birkenfeld.
In his familiy environment, Ernst Slavik (born 1942 in Teplice) first came into contact with art. Since then the Idar-Oberstein resident artist has done intensive work on the history of art, but also critically reflecting on his own artistic development admit the world affairs.
The exhibition shows artworks that are made in the last months: Slavik's typical material pictures, but also his graphical works.
The title of the exhibition - "Sisyphos" - is not only the title of a specific picture, it also reflects Slavik's whole work and attitude in the wide range of possible interpretations of the mythological figure.
Since 1968, his artworks can be seen in exhibitions. In 1996, Slavik was awarded first prize from the city of Idar-Oberstein ("Art and media"). In 2012, the Maler-Zang-Haus in Birkenfeld/Nahe shows a comprehensive solo exhibition. The triptych "Glaube Liebe Hoffnung" ("belief love hope") is permanently displayed in the protestant church of Birkenfeld. Up to the end of the year the Marienhaus Clinical Centre Neuwied exhibits works of Ernst Slavik and Richard Baus in dialogue.
Since 1978, Ernst Slavik is member of the Art Association Obere Nahe; since 1986, member of the Professional Association for Fine Artists (BBK).
There is no entry fee.
