Course of Study

This degree programme starts in the winter semester. The programme includes an eight-week basic professional internship. Ideally students ought to complete a four-week basic internship before the first semester at a company of their choice. Completed vocational training courses will also be accepted as basic internships. It is also possible to complete the internship during the course of the degree programme. During a four-week professional internship, students can apply their academic knowledge on-the-job. The professional internship must be completed before the bachelor thesis.

The Bachelor's programme consists of three module blocks. Modules in the first block focus on IT. These modules are also compulsory for students of Applied Computer Science. The second block deals with topics in the field of 'Media Communication'. Interdisciplinary modules such as 'Communication' and 'Mathematics' will comprise the third module block. Given the modular structure of the programme; students can easily change their degree course during the course of their studies.

Exchange semesters are encouraged. Students who decide to study at a university abroad, generally do so during the fifth semester. The prerequisite for this is an equivalent curriculum at the partner university.

The seventh semester is reserved for the Bachelor thesis and individually selected projects and elective subjects. The aim of the final exam is to demonstrate that the student is capable of independently working through a subject-related topic by applying scientific methods within a nine-week period.
