Applied Circular Economy

Competences

Within the research department of applied circular economy, value-preserving processes of a modern circular economy are developed and applied in industry. The focus is on researching and integrating remanufacturing, which, with its upstream and downstream processes, is a key component of the industrial circular economy.

This interdisciplinary task includes flexible process technologies for dismantling and remanufacturing, simulation-based process planning and system technology selection, product analysis and optimisation as well as technical and economic evaluations.

The digital product passport is considered to be the IT basis and connecting component that enables this form of sustainable and value-preserving management.

The aim is to establish and further develop the principles of the circular economy in industry in order to promote resource efficiency and environmental protection.
