Research for medium-sized companies: Projects on 3D metal printing

At the annual meeting of business development agencies in Rhineland-Palatinate, organized by the Ministry of Economics, Transportation, Agriculture and Viticulture, IBT, represented by Prof. te Heesen, presented the latest developments in research for and with medium-sized businesses with a focus on "3D printing". In addition to the topic areas of "Energy and Resource Efficiency", the presentation mainly addressed the research project "Resource Efficient Rapid Prototyping" conducted at IBT.

First, Mr. Julian Schäfer from the Foreign Trade and Location Marketing Department of the MWVLW presented the new business location brand Rhineland-Palatinate. Mrs. Kirstin Weber-Leibrecht from the tourism department explained the synergies of tourism development and business development to approximately fifty participants. Prof. te Heesen presented how 3D metal printing, as a field of application of innovative technologies, serves as an example of what business-oriented research institutions can achieve for the state's companies. The event was concluded by State Secretary Daniela Schmitt, who explained concepts for strengthening the state's companies and regions both through the tourism strategy and the business location brand as well as through the promotion of business-related research.
