When is the library open for you?

Current: Lecture period from 4 May to 5 Jul 2026 

  • Opening hours:
    Monday till Friday 8.00 am – 9.30 pm (partially OpenLibrary)

    thereof service/staff hours:
    Monday till Friday 9.00 am – 6.00 pm

The library is open for you throughout the semester. Exceptions are statutory holidays and rest days as well as special occasions. Short-term changes will be announced by notice board.

Book returns and fee payments are also possible outside library opening hours during building opening hours in the 24/7 room in front of the library (Mon - Sun: 7.00 am to 10.00 pm).

As an Open Library, the library is open to the public Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 9.30 pm. Service/Staff hours are:

  • lecture period:
    Monday till Friday: 9.00 am – 6.00 pm
  • non-lecture period:
    Monday till Thursday: 9.00 am – 4.00 pm
    Friday: 9.00 am - 1.00 pm

With OpenLibrary, you can use the library even outside of service/staff hours.

How it works:

  • Access with your library, student or staff ID card
  • Access for those aged 18 and over (children and young people must be accompanied by an adult)


What’s available to you:

  • Workstations and group rooms
  • Borrowing & returning media
  • Paying fees
  • Printing, scanning, copying


Please note:

  • Be considerate: keep it quiet, leave your workspace tidy, no hot or strongly smelling food
  • Always take your card with you when leaving (otherwise re-entry will not be permitted)
  • The library and house rules of Trier University of Applied Sciences apply


Good to know:

  • Some services are only available with staff assistance (e.g. registration, research assistance, collection of interlibrary loans, unblocking of user accounts)
  • The library is under video surveillance (footage is deleted after 3 days at the latest)
  • The library will remain closed in the event of technical faults or internal events
  • By entering the library during OpenLibrary opening hours, you accept the terms of use. In the event of breaches, damage or soiling, access will be restricted and the person(s) responsible will be held accountable
