Fees for second degree studies

From winter semester 2025/26, the second degree fee will be waived

A second degree programme is defined as the acquisition of a second university degree that is thematically and formally independent of the first degree programme, for example a further Bachelor's degree in a different subject. The first Master's degree programme after a Bachelor's degree (or several) is not a second degree programme. However, a further Master's degree after completing a Master's degree is.

In the Fünften Landesgesetz zur Änderung hochschulrechtlicher Vorschriften of 17 June 2025, fees for a second degree were abolished, among other things. This means that from the winter semester 2025/26, there will no longer be any second degree fees, only the semester fee will have to be paid.

This does not affect the special fees for students who have reached the age of 60. Here, fees of EUR 700 per semester will continue to be charged in addition to the semester contribution.

Fees for continuing Master studies

Continuing Master programs are often subject to a fee. In additional to the normal semester fees, further fees are charged. The exact amount differs from degree course to degree program. Please check the corresponding course pages.
