Interdisciplinary Conservation Research

The working group is focused on applied ecological research with the aim of making environmental management more effective and sustainable. The main topics are aquatic ecosystems and the optimization of river restoration.
Decisions in environmental management need profund knowledge of the ecological relationships but a good data basis is also essential. In order to observe long-term changes in the environment, we operate a water monitoring program in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. In addition, we develop innovative monitoring approaches for conservation projects.
We integrate our data and expertise in environmental monitoring into the network "Long-Term Ecological Research Germany" (LTER-D).
