Meeting platforms

Mattermost is a free web-based instant messaging service.

As an excellent alternative to e-mail communication (especially within the university), Mattermost enables both chat with individuals and simple group chats for departments, groups or events. These are organised in ‘channels’ and are easy to set up. There are clients for various desktop and mobile systems. It can also be used with a web client in any browser.

1. Open the platform: https://mattermost.gitlab.rlp.net/login
2. Select Gitlab and then Sign in with: login.rlp.net. Select Hochchule Trier and log in with your university ID.
3. To create a channel, click on Create a team and then enter a suitable team name. Confirm this with Next and click Finish in the next step.
4. You will find your team's name on the top left-hand side. Click on the Main Menu (burger menu) to the right. Select Invite People.
5. Click on Copy Link. This is now in your clipboard. Share this link with your desired team partners by e-mail.

TIP (Change Language): In the main menu > Settings (Gear Symbol) > Display> Language: Edit
