Microsoft services and applications

Under a contract with the company Microsoft, employees and students have access to various services and applications. Licensing is based on a Federated ID (with transmission of personal data).

Requirements and registration

  1. In order to use services and applications from Microsoft, you need a Microsoft University account. In order to obtain this, you must confirm the transfer of personal data to Microsoft once.
  2. Your Microsoft university account is now either loginname@hochschule-trier.de or loginname@umwelt-campus.de, depending on your location (replace loginname with the login name of your university ID).

IMPORTANT: If you have already created a private account at Microsoft with your university ID in the past, a selection box will appear when you log in. Select Business account there.

 

Available Microsoft applications and services

Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 includes the following applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access in the latest version (Publisher and Access are not available for macOS). Allowed are 5 installations per user on notebooks and desktops, plus 5 installations each on tablets and smartphones.

IMPORTANT: The system is hosted in the Microsoft Azure Cloud, in this respect the data centers can only provide limited support in case of technical problems.

INSTRUCTION

  2. Open the portal: https://office.com
  3. Log in with your Microsoft university account.
  4. You can then use the applications online, or download a setup file for local installation by selecting Install.
Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is an online collaboration platform with a focus on e-learning scenarios.

IMPORTANT: The system is hosted in the Microsoft Azure Cloud, in this respect the data centers can only provide limited support in case of technical problems.

  3. Log in with your Microsoft university account.
Microsoft Azure Dev Tools

Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching provides professional developer tools, software, and services from Microsoft for faculty and students.

IMPORTANT: The software may only be used in the context of teaching.

  3. Log in with your Microsoft university account.
Windows 10 Education

Microsoft provides free Windows 10 Education licenses for students through a Kivuto store.

IMPORTANT: The store is operated by Microsoft. In this respect, the data centers can only provide limited support in case of technical problems.

INSTRUCTION

  1. Open the Store: https://onthehub.com/search
  2. Select the Sign In button in the upper right corner.
  3. Log in using your user ID.
  4. Add Microsoft Windows 10 Education to your cart and proceed to checkout.
